Supporting pregnant clients is a privilege. Learn how to do it excellently.
Ready to transform your own career? Ready to enable the path of pregnancy, birth, and parenthood?
This workshop is for you.
In our four days together, we will explore the incredible pre- and perinatal period through experiential awareness, discussion, and lots of hands-on time.
Whether you already work with pregnant clients, or are curious but nervous, this is the education you need to nurture your clients and encourage a more peaceful world. This workshop emerged from the trailblazing, half-century career of Carole Osborne, who literally wrote the book on pregnancy massage (Pre- and Perinatal Massage Therapy, now in its third edition), and trained over 5,000 massage therapists. I have worked with Carole for nearly twenty years—and helped her co-author the most recent edition of that book!—and am honored to continue spreading this valuable work.
Your questions answered. Your fears abated. Your confidence grown.
In this workshop, you will:
Gain practical, clear, evidence-based knowledge about this potent period of life, so that you can work confidently and safely with all pregnant people, including clients with high-risk conditions and complications.
Practice over 70 hands-on pre- and perinatal techniques. You'll learn how to alleviate prenatal, labor and postpartum complaints; facilitate relaxation and reduce pain; increase clients’ kinesthetic awareness and birth readiness; restore and rebalance postpartum core integrity, movement and emotions; and reduce the strains of childcare.
Discover safe, evidence-based positioning for pregnancy, labor and postpartum (a goldmine of client comfort that is superbly applicable to non-pregnant clients!).
Explore physiology, anatomy and functional movement so that you really understand when and how to work with pregnant people.
Nurture mother–centered care and well-being with business practices, ethics, and interdisciplinary collaborations to help you succeed in any work environments—from private practice to spa to hospital.
Cultivate exquisite body mechanics, so you can help every client while also extending your own career.
You've got questions. We've got answers. (And if you have more questions, email me!)
YOU. Are you a licensed/registered massage therapist, or a student massage therapist who has completed at least 500 hours of accredited school training? Are you in maternity care with a touch scope of practice—midwife, doula, physical therapist, nurse, physician or bodyworker (Structural Integration practitioner, Rolfer, etc.)? Then this course is for you. Come join us!
Do something else but curious? Email me and see if you are eligible to take the course.
Uhm... YES. Worth it and then some. I can brag, because I didn't create this course—I inherited it from my amazing mentor, Carole Osborne.
This course changes lives.
This course will help you give a better massage to every client you see, from here on out—whether they are pregnant or not.
Yes, it is a big commitment—both ⏰ and 💰. And yes, it is worth it.
We know you have lots of options when it comes to continuing education. These are just some of the reasons why you should learn with Body Therapy Education:
We are learner-friendly, award-winning, experienced educators.
And we like to have fun while we learn.
We don’t just lecture; we are committed to helping you embody the work.
Our 32 hours together are an organized, efficient, intensive hands-on experience designed to respect the investment of your time and resources.
We have trained over 5,000 therapists. Our graduates are helping pregnant people and their babies every day. Come join our amazing community!
If I do my job, you will end our four days together both exhausted and energized. This workshop is intense!
You will end this course with both an enormous amount of new knowledge, and a new community of like-minded professionals. You will leave with both renewed inspiration and the ability to give a great massage to your very next clients! You will also leave with 32 CEs, and the ability to pursue certification with us.
For our four days together, we are fortunate to use Moving Body Resources, a beautiful sanctuary for learning and community, in the heart of Manhattan. MBR is my second home, where I have had my private practice, Full Breath Massage, for nearly 15 years. The space is convenient but quiet—a little oasis in the old Flower District, just a few blocks from Penn Station. You will love this workshop, and you will love this space.
Then we will make you feel at home! Therapists travel from all across the country to take this workshop. And New York City is a great place to learn!
32 CEs and revived career is a great excuse to take a little vacation.
You can walk from Moving Body Resources to more amazing restaurants than you can possibly afford! And you are a quick train (or CitiBike!) ride from more museums and galleries than you can possibly go to.
I'm happy to answer any questions you have about coming to NYC. Even though I live in Vermont, I come down every other week to see my clients. It is still my favorite place in the world.
There are tons of hotels within walking distance. And there is also a slight chance that I will have a ridiculously inexpensive housing option for a couple of out of towners. Email for the details.
Yourself and your enthusiasm, most importantly. And also:
You don't need to bring a table. We've got plenty!
You do need to bring sheets and pillows to practice with.
You need to purchase the Third Edition of Pre- and Perinatal Massage Therapy, which we'll be using throughout the course.
The studio is providing storage for us, so you can safely leave your class materials on-site for the four days of the workshop.
(You'll get an email from me with all these course preparation details once you register.)
I get it! Take a look at our cancellation and refund policy, and don't hesitate to reach out—I'm happy to brainstorm the possibilities with you.
I am a graduate of Vassar College and the Swedish Institute. I've been massaging since 2004, and teaching for almost as long. I develop continuing education courses that I teach in person and online.
Since 2006 I have been working with Carole Osborne, and am proud to be one of the five authorized teachers carrying on her work with Body Therapy Education. I am a co-author, with Carole Osborne and Michele Holland, of Pre- and Perinatal Massage Therapy (Third Edition, Singing Dragon 2021).
I look forward to working with you.
